Competition Regulations

- All announced prizes will be awarded.
- Candidates must assume financial responsibility for travel to and from Cleveland. All candidates who do not advance to the Semi-Final Round will be given a stipend of $1,000, which may be used to help cover travel costs and expenses. For the duration of the Competition, all contestants will be provided with housing, meals, practice facilities and transportation.
- Application to the Competition constitutes acceptance by the contestant of all rules and regulations. The original English version of these rules governs all interpretations.
- Between thirty (30) and thirty-five (35) candidates will be accepted to participate in the Competition and their names will be announced to the public.
- All decisions of the jury will be final.
- Prizes may be subject to US income tax laws.
- All works are to be performed from memory and in their entirety.
- Repertoire must be different for each round.
- Submitted repertoire is subject to review by Competition officials.
- The Competition will consist of four separate rounds: Round One (all candidates); Round Two (all candidates); Semi-Final Round (eight candidates); Final Round (four candidates).
- The order of appearance of pianists will be determined by a drawing that must be attended by all candidates. Attendance at the drawing is compulsory.
- The winner is expected to perform one or two recitals without compensation to benefit the Competition.
- The Competition reserves the right to make audio and/or video recordings of all rounds of the Competition and to use such recordings for its own purposes. Participation in the Competition constitutes a waiver of all claims and fees for broadcast of Competition performances.
