CIPC fans that have become accustomed to attending the event in odd-numbered years are going to have to adjust their habits just a bit. After the 2013 Competition, our keyboard extravaganza will be held every three years, with the next event scheduled for 2016.
This major shift was undertaken to accomplish several goals, according to CIPC Executive Director Pierre van der Westhuizen.
“First and foremost we want to continue the explosive growth of the Competition and the new CIPC Festival that is held concurrently with the Competition performances,” van der Westhuizen explained. “Having three years to do this will have a major impact.”
Van der Westhuizen also has plans to expand the CIPC Young Artists Competition, a program for piano students between the ages of 12 and 18. In the years ahead the organization will be focusing considerable resources toward increasing the worldwide presence of this important program.
Between Competitions patrons will enjoy an extended series of concerts through the CIPC Concert Series and the hugely popular Piano Palooza performance series in unusual and casual venues.
