Aleksandr Shaikin, 29, entered the Gnessin Special Music School in 2002, where he studied with Anna Arzamanova. In 2005 he continued his studies with Eliso Virsaladze at the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory, graduating in 2010. He received his first postgraduate diploma in 2013 with Eliso Virsaladze in Moscow and completed a second in 2015 studying with Pavel Gililov at the Mozarteum University of Salzburg. Mr. Shaikin has won numerous national and international prizes, including second prize at the Concours Géza Anda in Zurich. He has given solo recitals in various renowned Russian concert halls and also abroad in Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, Greece, Switzerland, Kazakhstan, Estonia, Ukraine, and Azerbaijan. As a soloist, he has given concerts with the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, the symphony orchestras of Yaroslavl, Orel, Thessaloniki, Valladolid and Almaty, as well as the Orchester Musikkollegium Winterthur and the Tonhalle-Orchester Zurich. Mr. Shaikin has a strong affinity for chamber music and founded a piano trio that has won prizes at chamber music competitions in Graz, Austria (2012); Kaluga, Russia (2011); and Moscow (2011).
