Katherine started her musical journey at the age of three with her mother Dr. Fumei Huang, a music educator. Only a year later, Katherine performed publicly at Boston’s Steinway Hall. She has taken top honors in numerous piano competitions, including Grand Prix at the Chopin International Piano Competition in Connecticut, the Concord Youth Artist Concerto Competition, the American Protégé Competition, the Steinway Society Piano Competition, and the Bay State Piano Competition. Katherine made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2015 and has performed in the WCRB Classical Cartoon Festival at Boston Symphony Hall several times. She has been featured on 99.5 WCRB and made her first appearance on NPR’s From the Top at Jordan Hall in 2016. Throughout the past year, she participated in several YouTube videos produced by From the Top, including “A Star Wars Musical Mashup” and “Fantastic Musicians and Where to Find Them.” Katherine was invited to perform at the Story Gathering Conference in Nashville, Imagine Solutions Conference in Naples, Florida, and the E.G. Conference in Carmel, California. Recently, Katherine won the Rivers Symphony Concerto Competition and performed Camille Saint-Saëns’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with them at Jordan Hall. Katherine has played in master classes with Victor Rosenbaum, Max Levinson, Krystian Tkaczewski, and Wha Kyung Byun. She currently studies with Dorothy Shi and A. Ramón Rivera.
