Vijay Venkatesh, 25, made his orchestral debut with the South Coast Symphony at age 14. Since that time he has performed with the orchestras of Seattle, Vienna, Roanoke, Eastern Connecticut, Pasadena, Rio Hondo, Transylvania, and the Brevard Festival, collaborating with celebrated conductors including Ludovic Morlot, David Stewart Wiley, Toshiyuki Shimada, Ken Lam, Robert Lehrbaumer, and Kimo Furumoto. Tour highlights include appearances in the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Soka Performing Arts Center, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, and Benaroya Hall. Mr. Venkatesh won second prize at the 2015 Seattle Symphony International Piano Competition and second prize at the 2007 Virginia Waring International Solo Piano Competition (Palm Desert, CA). In 2008 he was awarded the grand prize of the Los Angeles Music Center’s Spotlight Awards, and, as a 2008 Davidson Fellow, was honored with an award ceremony and reception at the U.S. Library of Congress.
